About

This page is to give you some background on me and who I am.  I am a 50 year old man that has spent the majority of my life chasing all the things of this world that we are taught are good.  Money, stature in the community, earthly goods and stability of my home and financial situation.  None of those things are necessarily bad, they are all given to us by God and can be taken away as easily if we are not good stewards of what we are given.

The Family

I am blessed to have a wonderful family.  I have a lovely wife and two great daughters, along with two grandsons!

But life is not picture perfect…. I am a broken man because I am human.

Just as many of you have probably experienced, I went through a divorce early in my life that was both painful and devastating at the time.  I did not have God in my life at that time and am not proud of many of the things that I said and did during that process and afterwards for several years.  I dwelled in self pity and did anything but glorify God in anything that I did.  I hurt many people with my words and am not proud of that period of my life but it is part of my life.   The neat thing is I can still have His salvation by grace alone and the repentence of those sins that  I have and continue to commit.  Life is good and God is good  all the time.

Professional Background

I am not in the clergy.  I am not a bible scholar.  I have been in the secular world all my life.  I have had several careers along the way beginning with one in the radio industry as a disk jockey from the time I was a teenager until my mid 20s.  From there I spent about a decade in the oil business until the big bust in the early 1980s.  It was at the same time that my divorce happened and basically a decade was lost without any good steady employment for most of the 80s but I made it through!  The 1990s brought my career in telecom until that industry went bust.   From there I moved into my current career in the financial services industry as a financial advisor.

So you will not hear me preaching to you, all of you are probably more well read in the scripture than I, but I do know that I have the desire to spread the news of His grace and will do that to the best of my ability.

The Mission

The mission of this site is stated in the title the “Force of 12″.  What a force the original 12 disciples were in spreading the Gospel of Jesus through our the 12 tribes of Israel and throughout the world.  From them grew an army of disciples that continued to spread across the world.

In this modern day, I  am not so sure that we are good disciples.  I know that I go to church almost every Sunday with my wife and daughter.  I hear the Word and am comforted by its implications but I never “break the huddle” as our pastor so likes to say.  We are all huddled together in our comfortable church where we all believe and all is safe.  We do a good job of getting the play, we know it well, but we never break the huddle and actually run the play.

For us to be the church we must go outside the walls of the building, break the huddle, run the play….tell people of the love and power found in Jesus Christ our Saviour.
